“Working as a team. One in the Spirit”
Our Purpose: The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of Mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our Message: The emblem of United Methodist Women, the cross and the flame, symbolizes our organization. The cross and the flame are ancient symbols of the church and appear on the United Methodist Church. These symbols remind us of the opportunities and obligations of discipleship and of our purpose of growing in our understanding of and willingness to participate in the global ministries of the church. They also remind us of our heritage of women who pioneered in service for the church at home and abroad. We represent a group of Christian women with many gifts who are unified by “One Spirit” and we participate in God’s mission in all areas of life.
Membership: A member of United Methodist Women (UMW) is one who commits herself to our purpose and chooses to participate in meetings, prayers, giving, study, action and service. Not all women are automatically members, but encouraged to join. The organization welcomes all women who want to participate. You become part of a membership organization that offers a community of women’s spiritual growth that offers a creative & supportive community transformation through service and worship. A majority of the women will belong to the United Methodist Church, but only the president is required to be a member of the United Methodist Church.
